MAGRUDERGRIND Share New Single “Black Banner” via Brooklyn Vegan and Invisible Oranges
Just over a week out from the release of their new record II, Brooklyn grind/powerviolence trio MAGRUDERGRIND have unveiled another crushing new anthem from the record. “Black Banner” has premiered via Invisible Oranges / Brooklyn Vegan. Brooklyn Vegan said of the track,
“It’s a comparative slow-burn, a 3-minute statement on pure crush and groove that works with chugging guitar figure and twists it into new shapes that, just when you’ve got a good head-bob going, yanks your neck in another direction.”
Last month, preeminent music portal NPR shared the single “Regressive Agenda” from II, which is available for streaming HERE. Recently, heavy metal hub Loudwire also premiered a new video for MAGRUDERGRIND’s track “Sacrificial Hire”, the lead single from II. The video can be streamed below:
MAGRUDERGRIND’s new record II, the band’s first in six years, is set to be released on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse Records this February 12, 2016. Again recorded with engineer Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright (Obituary, Nails), II is a savage manifesto of scathing political and personal revolution, and is unquestionably MAGRUDERGRIND‘s most crushing and accomplished material to date.
MAGRUDERGRIND are set to embark on a month-long European tour with Primitive Man beginning February 26th in Tilburg, NL and running through March 27th in Antwerpen, BE, then will be playing six more dates in The UK with Corrupt Moral Altar (newly announced). MAGRUDERGRIND will also be performing at the first-ever Netherlands Deathfest this February as well as the first-ever Choosing Death Fest, hosted by Decibel Magazine in Philadelphia this coming April. The band also recently teased a set of upcoming US dates with nihilistic Nashville sludge trio Yautja (full itinerary announcement coming soon). A complete list of dates announced thus far can be found below.
One of modern extreme music’s most distinctive acts, MAGRUDERGRIND plays a punishing hybrid of grindcore, powerviolence and hardcore punk. Formed in 2002 in Washington, DC and currently based in Brooklyn, NY, MAGRUDERGRIND combines visceral lyrical content with a relentlessly abrasive sonic aesthetic. Owing much to the close-knit global DIY punk community, the band has since toured Europe, Asia, and North & South America with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Misery Index, and countless others.
MAGRUDERGRIND released its first full-length Rehashed on Six Weeks Records in 2007, followed by their acclaimed eponymous sophomore effort in 2009 on Willowtip Records. Magrudergrind, engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire, Torche) and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Phobia) sent the band into 2010 with notable appearances at Hellfest, Maryland Deathfest and Obscene Extreme Festival. The EP Crusher followed in 2010, initially released on Scion Audio/Visual. And in 2012 MAGRUDERGRIND was approached by HBO for a cameo on the show Veep featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and appeared in the show’s fifth episode. Now MAGRUDERGRIND has teamed up with Relapse Records and returns after a 6-year hiatus with the new album II. The band will take their anti-musical revolution to the global stage throughout 2016 to annihilate every listener in their path.
