LOCRIAN: Noisey Premieres Single From Relapse-Bound Infinite Dissolution LP Alongside Interview On 10th Anniversary Of Band
A suffocating new tide of cerebral blackened/industrial audio from Relapse Records’ LOCRIAN today rises with a vengeance with an exclusive premiere of the outfit’s “Heavy Water,” culled from the rapidly approaching flood of their Electrical Audio-recorded Infinite Dissolution LP.
Paired with the “Heavy Water” audio, Noisey interrogates all three members of the LOCRIAN unit breaking down the creation of their latest works, their plans for their tenth anniversary commemoration this year, and how we live in the midst of our own demise on a daily basis. A segment of the feature offers of Infinite Dissolution, “It might not seem that a record steeped in concepts of man’s inevitable extinction and his inability to face his starring role in his own demise would contain as much staggering beauty as crushing despair, yet Chicago-Baltimore experimental trio LOCRIAN strikes a perfect balance of the two on its upcoming sixth full-length, Infinite Dissolution… Perhaps it’s no surprise from a band that has been masterfully conjuring and destroying alternate universes through music for nearly ten years and more than double that number of releases, with each one providing challenging sonic adventures and evocative perspectives on the physical state of the world around us.”
Infinite Dissolution’s three-part “An Index Of Air” is also streaming via Soundcloud below:
Several new live performances from the Chicago/Baltimore-based outfit have been secured as LOCRIAN prepares to inundate sectors of the planet in multiple waves throughout the year. A string of Midwestern shows is already underway for next month, with a headlining show confirmed in Detroit July 17th and a show with Liturgy on the 18th in Chicago confirmed, and more cities expected to be added to this run. With a West Coast tour coming together for August, special tenth anniversary performance plans coming together for the Autumn months, and a European invasion likely for early next year, these shows are only the beginning.
Infinite Dissolution will see North American release on July 24th, 2015 on CD, vinyl and digital formats. View the trailer for the album RIGHT HERE and check out physical preorder options HERE, and digital preorders via BandCamp HERE and iTunes HERE.
Recorded at Steve Albini-owned/operated Electrical Audio in Chicago, produced by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and with artwork based on a massive installation by sculptor David Altmejd, Infinite Dissolution is a multi-part concept album dealing with the struggle of human extinction; a seamless and harrowing blend of dark ambience, drone, black metal, post-rock, and power electronics, and the perfect manifestation of modern, forward-thinking experimental music. Amidst their nearly two-dozen releases over the past decade, Infinite Dissolution will mark LOCRIAN‘s second album for the diverse Relapse roster as it hits the street in late July, amidst the band’s celebration of its tenth anniversary. Another dark and cinematic work of exceptional aural artistry the band, Infinite Dissolution presents nearly fifty minutes of material more epic and foreboding than anything in their extensive catalog.
